/ OUR PEOPLE
This is our promise about the kind of brand we are trying to build — not the legal version, the honest one. We exist because South Asian voices, flavours and stories have been left out of UK beer for too long. The same belief shapes how we hire, who we work with, and how we treat the people inside this business.

DESI Beer Project was built by and for people who don't usually see themselves in beer marketing, beer brewing or beer culture. That isn't a tagline for us — it's the reason this brand exists at all.
We know that simply saying everyone is welcome is the easy part. The harder part is building a workplace, a supply chain and a community where that is actually true day to day. This page is where we set out what we are trying to do and what we expect of ourselves.
Equal treatment alone isn't enough when people start from very different places. Women, people of colour, LGBTQIA+ people, disabled people, working-class people and anyone living at the intersection of those identities still face barriers that others don't.
Equity, for us, means actively making room: rewriting job ads in plain English, paying for interviews where it helps, being flexible about hours and location where we can, and choosing suppliers and partners who share these values.
We hire for curiosity, care and craft — not for a polished CV. If you have run a kitchen, worked behind a bar, raised a family, organised a community event, taught yourself to brew at home, or come from a completely different industry, those experiences count.
If a role description ever puts you off applying, please ignore it and apply anyway. We will do our best to make interviews honest, human and free of jargon.
We will keep tracking who is applying, who is being hired and who is being promoted — and we will adjust how we work when the numbers tell us we are falling short.
We want this to be a place where people can be themselves at work. That means flexibility around prayer, caring responsibilities, parenthood, neurodivergence and mental health — not as exceptions, but as the normal way we run a team.
Reviews and progression are based on growth and contribution, not on whoever shouts the loudest. We will keep learning, and we will name and fix it when we get this wrong.
We don't claim to have any of this perfectly figured out. What we can promise is that we are paying attention, asking for feedback, and willing to change.
If you want to challenge us, share an experience or hold us to account on anything on this page, write to hello@desibeerproject.com. We read everything.
